Dr. Dean Tourigny, a dentist who practices in Biddeford, has been recognized by the Maine Dental Association with inclusion on its Honor Wall.

The Honor Wall recognizes “those who have given extraordinary service to the Maine Dental Association” and is displayed at the organization’s headquarters in Manchester. Tourigny, along with Dr. Jonathan Shenkin, were lauded as the Honor Wall’s newest members at the Maine Dental Association’s annual convention on June 1 at the Harborside Hotel, Spa, and Marina in Bar Harbor.

Tourigny has been on the MDA Executive Board since 2004, serving on numerous committees and as Executive Board president in 2011-2012 and as Executive Board secretary from 2017 until present. He has represented the MDA at the American Dental Association House of Delegates.

Tourigny is a long-standing volunteer with Dental Lifeline Network – Maine, and is now chair of its leadership council.

“Dr. Tourigny is a champion of Dental Lifeline Network – Maine, a program that provides access to dental care for disabled, elderly and medically fragile individuals,” Dr. Kathryn Horutz, outgoing MDA Executive Board president, said.

“I was surprised, honored, and humbled to be included on the wall.  I thank all my colleagues at the MDA, past and present, for their inspiration, dedication, and friendship,” Dr. Tourigny said.

Incorporated in 1867, the Maine Dental Association is a professional membership organization of licensed dentists. The MDA works to support members in achieving excellence in dentistry, and to be leaders in oral health in Maine. For more information about the MDA, go to www.medental.org.
