Dr. Brad Rand, a dentist who practices in Brewer, is the new president of the Maine Dental Association’s Executive Board. He was voted into the position by MDA members at the organization’s annual convention on June 1 at the Harborside Hotel, Spa, and Marina in Bar Harbor.

Rand has practiced in Maine since 2006. He graduated from Brewer High School and attended Brigham Young University, where he graduated magna cum laude. He completed his training at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, where he graduated with honors. Since 2009, he has participated in Maine’s Donated Dental Services Program, which provides care for patients with disabilities or who are elderly or medically fragile. In 2016, he was awarded a fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry, which only 7 percent of dentists will achieve by the end of their career.

“It is an honor to serve as the president of the Maine Dental Association. I’m proud to be a member of the association, and to work alongside so many dentists who have practiced for decades in our great state. We also have a surge of newly graduated and diverse dentists who are deciding to practice in Maine,” Rand said. “We have a strong heritage and a depth of experience. We are positioned to adapt to future challenges of providing care to our citizens, and I look forward to working with our members and other stakeholders to continue to improve Maine’s oral health.”
