In accordance with the MDA bylaws, we are posting a link to the proposed By-laws amendments 30 days in advance of the meeting. Active, life, and retired members are allowed to vote.
A summary of the proposed bylaws changes is as follows:
- Page 4, Chapter 1, Section 50, Dues, Assessment, Item C: Active Life Members. The MDA is proposing modifying our bylaws to mirror dues streamlining voted on and approved by the ADA House of Delegates, and eliminating the 25% dues discount for active life members.
- Page 6, Chapter IV: Section 10. Composition of the Board of Directors. The MDA Governance Reform Task Force has proposed a regional model to streamline the MDA Board of Directors component representation by creating three regions based upon size and geography. These three regional districts would provide two representatives to the MDA Board of Directors. This would decrease the size of the board from 21 to 17. Local component society structure, function and dues would remain unchanged. A graphic of the proposed governance model can be found HERE.
- Page 7, Chapter IV: Section 50, Quorum. The number of voting board members present is decreased from 10 to 7 to establish a quorum.
